Battle of the Bulge
It was a cold, foggy, and snowy day, on December 16, 1944. About 600,000 american troops were marching through the Ardennes forest. The Allied forces were invading Germany. Adolf Hitler, dictator of Germany, wanted one last chance to win the war. He wanted to advance through the wooded area of the Ardennes in Luxembourg and Belgium. The Germans were dressed in U.S. clothes and driving U.S. Jeeps which made the Americans confused. Then, the fog finally lifted and the Americans were able to launch their planes. The Americans then counterattacked and the Germans ran out of fuel for their tanks, trucks, and planes. Finally, the Americans won the Battle of the Bulge on January 16, 1945. Overall, there was a result of 80,000 Americans killed or wounded, and the Germans had lost over 100,000 men. The air crafts and tanks that the Germans had were almost impossible to replace.
