The battle of Kursk

The battle of Kursk took place in July 6, 1943.This was the biggest tank battle in World War 2. This was an attack on the Russians by the Germans. Most of Hitler's military personal didn't understand way he wanted to take Kursk. Hitler didn't want to stay on defense, he wanted to be on offense. Kursk was in the middle of nowhere, so it was almost pointless to take the city. Most people didn't know about the city but Hitler wanted it. This is what Hitler said about the attack on the city of Kursk: “This offensive is of decisive importance. It must end in swift and decisive success. Every commander, every private soldier, must be indoctrinated with awareness of the decisive importance of this offensive. Victory at Kursk will be a beacon for the whole world''. He said this on April, 15th 1943.
Germany used 2,700 tiger and Panzer tanks in the battle of Kursk. On top of the 2,000 planes, 900,000 men with 10,000 artillery guns. And that's just the Germans. The Russians had almost double everything that the Germans had. They had 1.3 million soldiers, 3,600 tanks, 20,000 artillery pieces and 2,400 planes. All based there at Kursk. Hitler was greatly outnumbered, but he still he still attacked.
The German's had just lost the battle of Stalingrad and this was their last stand for Germany to take Russia even tough Russia was an ally to Germany until they attacked Russia cause they wanted to be the world ruler but the couldn't because win the war without Russia as ally.
